How to Install TiviMate on Firestick: Full Setup Guide with Pictures (2026)

Why the install takes three parts#

Part 1 — Install Downloader#

Downloader is free and comes from Amazon’s own store, so this part is like installing any ordinary app.

1. Open search. From the home screen press up to the top row, move left to the magnifying glass, and press the middle button.

2. Type “Downloader”. Suggestions appear as you go — you do not have to finish the word.

3. Pick the orange icon. Plain orange, white arrow, by AFTVnews. Several look-alikes sit near it in the results.

4. Select Download (or Get). Older devices say one, newer ones the other. Same thing.

5. Let it run. Leave the remote alone for a few seconds — pressing buttons here can cancel it.

6. Done. When Download turns into Open and Uninstall, it has landed. Do not open it yet.

Part 2 — Let Downloader install apps#

Downloader can now fetch a file, but the Firestick will still refuse to install it. This switch is off by default for everyone. You are turning it on for Downloader alone, not for the whole device.

1. Settings → My Fire TV. Settings is the gear on the top row.

2. Open About. First item in the list.

3. Press select seven times on your device’s name. A small notice tells you that you are now a developer. This only reveals a hidden menu — it changes nothing else.

4. Go back and open Developer options. It has appeared in the My Fire TV list.

5. Open Install unknown apps. “Unknown” here means only “not from Amazon’s store”.

6. Switch Downloader on. Find Downloader in the list and turn it on. Leave every other app alone.

7. Confirm it reads On. That is part 2 finished, permanently.

Part 3 — Install TiviMate#

1. Open Downloader and select the address box on the Home tab.

2. Enter 272483 and press Go. Six digits, nothing else — no “www”, no “.com”. This is TiviMate’s own shortcut code, published by the developer at tivimate.com.

3. Let the download finish. It starts on its own and takes a few seconds.

4. Select Install. The package screen appears by itself when the file arrives.

5. Wait for “Ready to launch!” That notice means TiviMate is installed. Choose Open.

Add your playlist — use Xtream Codes, not M3U#

On the opening screen choose Add playlist, then set the type to Xtream Codes. TiviMate offers M3U as well, and it is worth understanding the difference because it decides how well everything else in this guide works.

An M3U playlist is a flat file: your player downloads the whole list once and works from that copy. Xtream Codes is a live connection — the channel list, the films, the series and the TV guide are all pulled as you need them. That means the guide fills in properly, catch-up works, and when we add channels they simply appear instead of you having to reload anything.

Fill in the three fields exactly as they appear in your activation email: the server URL, your username and your password. All three are case sensitive, and the most common mistake is a capital letter lost while retyping. Copy and paste from the email if you can.

TiviMate then loads your channels, films and series. Pick a channel and it should start playing within a second or two.

Set up the TV guide (EPG)#

The guide is the reason most people move to TiviMate, and on an Xtream Codes playlist it usually fills itself in. If yours looks empty, it is almost always because the guide has not finished downloading rather than because anything is wrong.

1. 1Open the TiviMate menu (press left from the channel list, or the menu button on your remote) and go to Settings → EPG.
2. 2Check that your playlist is listed as an EPG source. On an Xtream Codes playlist it is added for you.
3. 3Choose Update EPG and give it a minute. A large guide takes longer on the first run than it ever will again.
4. 4Set Auto update to on so it refreshes in the background.

If a handful of channels still show no programme information, that is normal — not every channel in the world publishes a guide, and no provider can invent one that does not exist.

Put your channels in order#

A full subscription is a lot of channels — ours runs to around 20,300. Straight out of the box that is a very long list to scroll. Ten minutes here makes the difference between a list you fight and one that feels like your own TV.

Favourites

Highlight a channel, hold the select button, and choose Add to favourites. TiviMate keeps favourites as their own group at the front of the list, so the ten channels you actually watch are one press away.

Hide what you will never watch

In Settings → Channels you can untick whole groups — other countries, languages you do not speak, categories you do not care about. Hidden channels stay in your subscription; they simply stop appearing while you browse. This is the single biggest improvement most people make.

Reorder groups

Still in Settings → Channels, drag your groups so Sports or Movies sits at the top instead of whatever alphabetical order gave you.

Recording#

TiviMate can record live TV to a USB drive or to internal storage, which is genuinely useful for a match that clashes with something else. Recording is a Premium feature, and it needs somewhere to write to — a small USB stick in the Firestick’s port is enough for a few hours.

TiviMate free vs Premium#

Remote shortcuts worth knowing#

When something is not right#

“Playlist could not be loaded”

Nine times out of ten this is a typo in one of the three fields, and nearly always a capital letter. Delete the playlist and add it again, pasting rather than typing. If it still refuses, check the subscription is active — an expired line returns exactly this message.

Channels buffer or stutter

Try a wired connection first if you can — a Fire TV Ethernet adapter costs very little and fixes most buffering outright. On Wi-Fi, 5 GHz beats 2.4 GHz, and a Firestick sitting behind the TV is partly shielded by the TV itself; a short HDMI extender moves it into the clear. If one channel stutters and everything else is perfect, the problem is that channel, not your setup.

The guide is empty

Settings → EPG → Update EPG, then wait. See the guide section above.

Films and series are missing

That is the free version behaving normally — VOD is a Premium feature. Your plan still includes them; TiviMate free just will not display them.

TiviMate will not install

Go back to part 2. If Downloader is not switched on under Install unknown apps, the install fails silently every time.

If your provider passes all four, keep them — genuinely. If it fails one or two, know that the switch costs you nothing on this side: same Firestick, same TiviMate, same fifteen minutes of setup you have already done. You delete one playlist and add another. Everything in this guide still applies.

TiviMate is only ever as good as what it is pointed at — the app cannot fix a slow server, a missing guide or a channel list that is half dead. Three things matter, and they are worth checking whoever you buy from.
